Ireland’s Child of Light, manifested outside his normal class of Lancer. A piece of someone else cut away and repurposed...More divine and fae-like than his counterparts, he embodies the idea of Cú Chulainn as an avatar of Lugh.

The cage in it's torso is empty... so it rages on seeking sacrifices for the gods to fill it.*Not an ability linked to rune magecraft nor even really Cú Chulainn himself. The concept of the Wickerman was fabricated as propaganda by the Roman Empire during the Gallic Wars to demonize the Celts and thus this is used as a false and rather mocking placeholder for his actual Noble Phantasm.

Please note these summaries are based upon multiple versions of each story as well as what’s known in-universe for Fate. Some tales are known to contradict one another so liberties have been taken to blend them together more seamlessly. This is not a 1-to-1 retelling and is merely applicable to my own interpretation of the character.
Compert Con Culainn (The Conception of Cú Chulainn)Conceived by the spirited away sister of Ulster’s king, Deichtine, and the Celtic god Lugh, Sétanta was born on a cold day. The warriors of Ulster taking shelter from the sudden snowstorm found themselves in audience of the birth as their host, God of Knowledge and War, spoke to them. The men were to take the child and raise him so that he might accomplish great deeds in the mortal realm.The men would awaken the next day with the snowstorm gone. The abode they had slept in decrepit as if long, long abandoned. And the child of their divine host sound asleep with neither parent in sight.
Soon the men returned to Emain Macha and there it was argued and decided who would have the honor of raising him.

Fifth Holy Grail WarOriginally of the same spirit origin as Lancer, he retains memories of the events of the Fifth Holy Grail War and what came after. Particularly of note is his rather bitter perspective in regards to either of his masters. Both the priest that saw him as nothing more than a tool, and the woman who could only see him as she wanted.
Grand OrderA rogue servant summoned into the abstracted Grail War known as Singularity F, Caster begins the tedious process of culling the corrupted servants before the Last Master arrives. Three are single-handedly killed by himself before he would meet with them and propose a temporary contact to finish the rest. Lancer, Archer, and finally Saber, he bids farewell to Chaldea after their shared enemies defeat.
Headcanons
- Celebrates his birthday on the winter solstice (Dec 21)..)
-Exhibits an aversion to bodies of water not unlike aquaphobia.
- His speech might come across as noticeably different than what those would expect of the Hound. It’s something almost eloquent and befitting of someone who grew up in nobility, exuding an air of pride and intellect. (Though that is not to say he doesn’t fall back into something coarser from time to time.)
- Such vernacular also aids in the appearance of someone tactful and objective to those unaware. Something to obscure his nature as someone who thinks and feels only in extremes.
- Indeed remembers the events of the Fifth HGW and what came after, holding a particular disdain for it and the people involved. There is no fondness even if he would suggest differently. Even if he remembers softer, happier moments. The events burned into his mind the most vividly are what matters.
- Thusly it should be noted, Caster has zero obligation of loyalty to any master in the beginning. Masters in particular will often earn his hostility and the use of command seals are something he’ll make certain are regretted more than anything else. He’s willing to play ‘nice’ but the moment he feels as though there is intent to control him is where he snaps. (Something shown quite well in regards to Olga Marie.
- Someone vaguely yet deeply inhuman. A ‘perfect’ appearance that seems to grow more unsettling the longer you stare at him. Skin, hair, and form so light you would think he’d fade away if it were not for such vividly red eyes. (At times one might swear skin slices open to reveal a few more-) Sharp canines and nails might also be noted.
- Often uses physical enhancement spells to hide just how much of his strength has been sapped from him in his form. While still far beyond that of a normal human, it pales in comparison to what it was before. This and a reliance on intuition rather than raw power has allowed him to keep his prowess as a warrior however.
- Holds certain skills ‘gifted’ to him that were not previously held. Most notably is ‘Clairvoyance’, the ability to peer into and perceive future outcomes.

Headcanons
- Possesses an eloquent tone and manner of speech befitting someone who grew up in nobility, to the surprise of some. It exudes an air of pride and intellect ( though that is not to say he doesn’t fall back into something coarser from time to time. )
- Being both fae and a demigod by blood, Cú has a ‘perfect’ appearance that many perceive as profoundly beautiful . . . and as something distinctly unsettling to others — something that becomes more noticeable the longer one stares. Porcelain-like skin without blemish, scar, hair, or signs of blood flow, it might as well not be flesh. His divinity as well can manifest in something much more distinctly grotesque. Even if the Ríastrad ( a monstrous form made manifest by extreme emotions of grief and anger in which his divine blood becomes too much for his partially mortal body to bear ) is cut off to him in most cases, traces of it remain in the rare appearance of additional eyes splitting open like wounds in his skin or boiling blood.
- He has a well-ingrained ( read: well -earned ) distrust and distaste for Masters as a whole and the Holy Grail Wars as a concept. It’s a sentiment unlikely to disappear, and even the most kind of Masters will find it a daunting task to prove themselves an exception. Use of Command Seals on him for any purpose, even helpful, will be met with a termination to his current contract.
- Despite his aloof and sometimes harsh nature at surface level, he’s someone who enjoys caring for others more than anything. Those that earn his trust as a friend or loved one are often victims of his persistent doting and worrying. It's an aspect of himself he keeps well-guarded as one can imagine — after all, emotions are probably his biggest weakness. ( Children are always an exception though. He remembers and misses his own, and thus treats them with that same doting nature from the start. )
- Even with an appearance ‘not suited for the battlefield’ as he was mocked for in his life and a class deemed ‘unsuited’ for warriors now, he demands respect for his feats. When not readily given, he is more than happy to demonstrate why and how.
- He is more than aware of his life being told in tales and myths throughout the ages. He was no stranger to tales and rumors during his life, each painting him as a different sort of man or monster, so this is no different. So . . . with that being said, heed this warning: if one wishes to make remarks or assumptions about his life to him, he will meet them in kind. He will bite back.

The hero of Ireland’s mythological cycle and Fourth High King of the Tuatha Dé Danann . The God of the sun, storms, rightful kingship, and knowledge as well the father of the hero Cú Chulainn . He is often seen to be a trickster as much as he is a savior figure. A fae with little care for the human constructs of ‘good’ and ‘evil’.Here he is usually little more than vague influences. A whispering voice, a watchful eye. Specks of gold in red that gradually fade. There’s no need for anything beyond that. His will is done one way or another as he’s dictated since the passing of the Age of Gods. The few if not only of his kind to survive this long through less than ‘honorable’ methods. Tying himself and his influence to a magus family and now this…Still, the means matter not. His purpose remains the same even after the day he was cast away. His first ‘death’ that marked the end of the prosperity he brought. Dragged into the depths. Silenced. Extinguished until he was needed again. That was his purpose.To be consumed every night.
